Will they be able to catch your speedy dollar? It’s not as easy as it sounds.

Setup time: 5 minutes

Materials:
•    A dollar bill (or piece of paper the size of a dollar bill)

Directions:
1.    Challenge a friend to catch a dollar bill as you drop it. However, there is a catch! They must catch it between their thumb and index finger.
2.    Have them stand in front of you, placing their arm towards you.
3.    They should hold their thumb and index finger about an inch apart.
4.    Place the dollar bill so George Washington is in between their two fingers.
5.    Do not tell them when you are going to drop the bill. Keep talking to them (distracting them) and drop the bill in mid-sentence. Usually, the bill will fall between their fingers without them catching it.

What is happening:
It is possible for your friend to catch the dollar bill. If they guess when you are going to release the bill, they might be successful. Most of the time, your friend will wait to see the bill drop from your hands. Gravity pulls the dollar bill down at a faster rate than if your friend watches you drop the bill and send a signal from their brain to their fingers to close.
