All they need to do is blow a small piece of paper into a plastic bottle! Sounds easy, doesn’t it?

Setup time: 5 minutes

Materials:
·        plastic pop or water bottle ( 20oz to 1 liter )
·        small crumpled piece of paper

Experiment:
1.      Crumple a piece of paper so that it is slightly smaller than the opening of the bottle.
2.      Lay the plastic bottle on a flat surface so it rests on its side.
3.      Place the piece of paper into the mouth of the bottle and make sure it isn’t too close to the inside of the bottle
4.      Try to blow the paper into the bottle; your mouth cannot be touching the bottle.

What happens:

A majority of the time when you try to blow the paper into the bottle it will pop out back at you

Why:

The bottle is filled with air and when you try to blow the paper into the bottle air is forced out of the bottle which propels the paper backwards out of the bottle. This is possible to do. Your success depends on the angle you blow on the paper and how hard you blow – the lighter you blow the better your chances.
